The final stage of the writing process when the manuscript is evaluated for mechanical correctness, such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, omitted words, repeated words, spacing and format, and typographical errors.

Rate: $0.0025 per word

Example: 25,000 words = $62.50
Example: 50,000 words = $125
Example: 75,000 words = $187.50

Copyediting

The editing process that involves corrections in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style of a written manuscript. It focuses on the minor errors in the written document and includes looking for typos and misspellings, editing for grammar, and assessing the content for readability while ensuring that the style of writing is consistent.

Rate: $0.005 per word

Example: 25,000 words = $125
Example: 50,000 words = $250
Example: 75,000 words = $375

Beta Reading

The initial read-through of a manuscript prior to editing and publication, providing feedback on the overall reading experience of the story, any inconsistencies (facts, chronology, character names and attributes, verb tenses, etc.), minor level of sensitivity reading observations, areas that pulled the reader out of the story, and any pacing or plot issues that stand out.

Rate: $0.00667 per word

Example: 25,000 words = $166.75
Example: 50,000 words = $333.50
Example: 75,000 words = $500.25

First Chapter Critique

The beginning of your book is what sets the tone, hooks the reader, and determines your book’s likelihood of supporting another 50K words (give or take) that the reader will use to decide if they want to keep reading or read in the first place. A first chapter critique provides you with detailed feedback on your first line, hook, character introduction, goal-motivation-conflict setup. It is the closest thing I offer to a developmental edit.

Rate: $0.05 per word
Limit: 5000 words

Example: 1,000 words = $50
Example: 3,000 words = $150
Example: 5,000 words = $250

Transcription

For authors who use voice dictation and need assistance with transcribing the audio to typed word, I offer a transcription service that includes a full transcript of the audio provided. This will be completed in a clean, edited (free of typos or misspellings) format to the extent possible based on the quality of audio provided.

Rate: $50 per audio hour

Example: 1 audio hour = $50
Example: 2 audio hours = $100
Example: 3 audio hours = $150
